The Dawson Trail Arts and Heritage Tour committee extends heartfelt thanks to the many people and organizations who have supported our efforts in making the tour and website a reality.

The Dawson Trail is first and foremost a story of communities and connections, and for that, we extend thanks to those residents who offered up their years of research, photos, help and insights along the way, including Norm and Paul-Guy Lavack, Diane Heather, Roger Godard, Robert Freynet, Aurèle Boisvert and Evelyn Proulx. Special thanks to our resident historian, Lorna Annell, for piecing together the preliminary framework of stories for the Dawson Trail tour and for sharing her enthusiasm and wealth of knowledge on the subject. For their leadership, openness to collaborate and continued assistance, we thank Yvonne Fontaine Godard and the Executive Board of the Dawson Trail Museum (our umbrella organization).   Heartfelt thanks go out to Mireille Lamontagne, whose expertise, vision, and tireless efforts as our research consultant proved instrumental to our efforts.

Funding sources and guidance are critical to moving a project like this forward.  We remain eternally grateful to Tourism Manitoba, the Province of Manitoba; the CDEM and their support staff, Roselle Turenne, Sylvie Foidart and Mariette Kirouac; Yann Boissonnealt and the Société de la francophonie Manitobaine; Julie Lessard and the Bilingual Services Centre in Sainte-Anne; the R.M. of Ste. Anne and the R.M. of Taché.

We extend special thanks to the many impassioned residents, volunteers, artists and community leaders who continue to believe in, and nurture, the intrinsic value of arts and heritage as essential elements of a thriving community.

We believe, like you, that these creative industries are the pillars of community engagement, contributing to a sense of place and identity within a community, expanding our understanding of ourselves, and enriching perspectives with an appreciation for the diversity of human experience and cultures.

When you consider these values, combined with the opportunities that the Dawson Trail Arts and Heritage Tour present for tourism and economic growth within our communities, it’s easy to see why our efforts are gaining momentum.  We are most grateful and look forward to working with you all in bringing our goals to fruition.

Should you or someone you know have a story to share with us about the Dawson Trail, we would love to hear from you as we will continue to collect stories in the years to come. Reach us at dawsontrailtourmb@gmail.com
